Halo is in Direct competition with the PS3. BD is not in direct comepition with the 360. Letting the 360 have a BD drive would not hurt Sony's sales much if at all. Whatever royalties they get from each BD sold from MS is a nice + too. Sony would let them use BD. They just haven't switched yet because they don't want BD to win. about making an external BD drive for the 360, who is going to spend what is probably going to be a $250 external drive that then make the 360+external drive more expensive then the PS3s (and of course still doesn't have built in Wi-Fi)

downloadable product has no resale value. Discs aren't going anywhere and I'm not that lazy that I can't go to the store or click a few clicks at amazon.
Download speeds will have to vastly improve as well, and there aren't any future indicators that they will any time soon.
everyone knows the highest anticipated games of this year are PS3 games. Hell, PS3 2008 games were the most anticipated of 2007. They totally stole those media game shows.
